Bioshock 2 Releasing February 9th

adopt

After that vague multigame 2010 delay, one of 2K Games’s titles now has a solid release date. Lucky for us that title is Bioshock 2. Bioshock 2 will be arriving into store shelves February 9th. Mark your calenders folks (with pencil just in case). We know we aren’t the only ones who can’t wait to get Big Sister beating.

Bioshock 2 Delayed Till 2010

Take-Two has just announced via press release that their Fat-Guy-In-Suit-Saving-Little-Girls sequel will be arriving fiscal 2010. The highly anticipated sequel was delayed to increase the performance as much as possible before release.

Chairman of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick stated, “We recognize that our revised outlook for the balance of fiscal year 2009, due to both internal and external factors, is a disappointment. That said, we concluded that moving the release of BioShock 2 into fiscal year 2010 was the right decision for the product. We believe the result will be a more compelling consumer experience and a better performing product in the marketplace”

The delay will also give Take-Two a kick ass 2010 line up with such games as Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption. Even though Zelnick apologizes about the delay, we can’t help but be sad. At least we can feel comfortable knowing that the extra time is being used to tweak and polish the game. With 4 studios behind this sequel, you can tell Take-Two is serious about making this game bigger and better than its predecessor. Big Sister will just have to wait a little while longer before we can pummel her crazy face in.

Bioshock 2 Releasing October 30th in EU, November 3rd In NA

During Take Two’s financial conference call, CEO Ben Feder stated that Bioshock 2 will release on October 30th in Europe and November 3rd in North America. The games platforms are still listed as “TBA” but seeing as how Bioshock made it tall all 3 consoles eventually. Its pretty much a certainty that Bioshock 2 will release on all 3 major platforms.

Bioshock 2 Teaser Site Updated

The once map only teaser site for Bioshock 2 has taken a step back literally from the map to reveal a whole room. The room looks to be owned by a divorced man named Mark Meltzer. Mark’s small apartment is filled with scattered pictures of his daughter, and news papers clippings of disappearing little girls and strange sightings. It appears Mark’s daughter has been taken as well. By the Big Sister no doubt. Who is Mark Meltzer? Why does he deserve his own teaser? Will he have a role in Bioshock 2? Only time will tell. Seeing as we play as the Proto-Big Daddy, Mark is out as the protagonist. Maybe E3 will shed some light on this mystery.

Bioshock 2 Drops Subtitle (Update)

Bioshock 2: Sea Of Dreams has dropped its “Sea Of Dreams” subtitle and is now just simply Bioshock 2. Seen in the latest Game Informer cover story as such. 2k Games’s Community Manager Elizabeth Tobey has confirmed the change.

[UPDATE] 2K Games has informed Eurogamer that the subtitle has NOT been removed and Bioshock 2 will still be very much dreamy.

Bioshock 2 Details Emerge From The Deep

Allgamesbeta.net has scans of the exclusive Bioshock 2 preview in the newest issue of Game Informer. The sequel takes place 10 years after the original (Not a prequel like previously rumored) You play the very first Big Daddy prototype and still patrol Rapture. The city did not crumble after all. It reached an equilibrium thanks to the Big Sister. A once Little Sister that escaped with Dr. Tenenbaum in the first Bioshock. Big Sister has returned to Rapture for unknown reasons beside maintaining order. She has captured little girls from all around the world and transformed them into Little Sister. Your role in Bioshock 2 is to either Harvest or Adopt these little sisters and solve the Big Sister mystery. You may be an all powerful Big Daddy, but Big Sister does not mess around. She will protect her city, at all costs.
The game wont just be a solo adventure game either. There will be multiplayer of some sort, without compromise to the single player.

Bioshock 2 to take place in Atlantis?

Bioshock 2 to take place in Atlantis?

After decompiling the Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams website, we found a couple of hidden files including a load of dates scattered about seemingly at random. However, after more searching through the files we found those same dates overlayed on the world map on the teaser site. Each date marks a location, perhaps where a child was taken by this “monster”?

Interestingly, there is one cross on the map that does not have a date located at the mid-atlantic… not Rapture which is located between Iceland and Greenland, but the exact supposed location of Atlantis. So, perhaps they can pull of another Bioshock in a similar setting. The idea of 2K’s take on Atlantis sounds pretty exciting. Click the jump for the image(s).
