Dead Space 2 Continues To Tease (Update 3)

22239_270096606658_18523496658_3501083_138692_n

See that little greenish pic up there? Well thats something Visceral wants us to spend days trying to solve. Over the next 2 weeks they will continue to further reveal just what that tiny little pic is showing. All we have so far is that that may be Mr. Clark in the middle surrounded by green necromorph snot. Maybe Issac is inside a big baddies nasal cavity. Only time will tell. So keep an eye on Dead Space 2’s official Facebook page. While we stare at it…for hours…

Update: And now for round 2. The previous image was a zoomed view of what we now see. We see teeth and saliva, so its pretty safe to assume this is a mouth of some sort of necromorph, we’re guessing a worm. Lets see if we are right.

Update 2: Another image, another round of “WHAT THE F**K IS THAT?!” We still go with the wormy body idea, but you can now see what was once its eyes and possibly nose. We still can’t tell what this necromoph was before it was changed but its safe to say this thing will hardly resemble its original form. This is the 2nd to last pic. Next week we will finally see the full figure. Until then, ponder away and cry inside.

Update 3: Well here is the final image guys. Yes, I was wrong. It was not a worm… Even so, this new necromorph is still pretty ugly. He sort of shares some traits with Resident Evil 3’s Nemesis. They both share that sever cleft lip thing. So what do you guys think? Is this new necromorph not as good as previous? Is it scary or just goofy?

Xbox Avatars Get Dead Space Gear

300

Oh look kiddies! Overpriced Dead Space themed clothing and accessories for your virtual Xbox Avatar. You could get yourself Dead Space Issac’s armor for the low price of 4 space bucks. While avatar accessories and clothing are a bit overpriced there is bound to be a few people with enough money to spend on such things. There are a few stylish shirts, armor, Issac’s helmet and even a phallic USG Ishimura model for your virtual you to play with or something. While the first game came out some time ago we’re guessing this is to get some hype up on the recently announced Dead Space 2.

Dead Space 2 Announced, Officially

dead-space-2-093009

What?, who?, when?, Dead Space 2?! Where did this come from?…No, but seriously, like if it wasn’t obvious enough EA has finally announced Dead Space 2. The press release promises that Isaac will be returning to kick some more necromorph ass in Zero-G environments and will meet some new characters along the way. Also, as suggested by the teaser image from Twitter, not everything is as it seems. Suggesting Isaac isn’t completely sane anymore and might be seeing things (more so than in his last adventure). No screens at this time but we expect some assets soon.

Twitter Account Teases Dead Space 2 (Update)

47311427

A new Twitter account simply called “deadspace” has been created and it’s first and only tweet links to what looks to be a Rorschach test with silhouettes of Necromorphs and what could be “The Marker”. Also below the is some writing in the mysterious alien language that littered the USG Ishimura’s walls. We tried to decipher the text using a cleaned translation guide but all we could get was this mess “THEMRIG7HTKREISO__R H_TITFIL_OTCND“.

The text on the image is very messy and we just can’t do it. If you feel like taking a shot then hit the forums with your results. With rumors of Dead Space 2 being unveiled in the next Official Playstation magazine, this new image surely gives fire to the rumor. We definitely expect an announcement very soon.

Update: User Aglaophotis has solved the riddle. It reads:

“The nightmare is over but it will not end”

Dead Space 2 Entering Production Stages

Nercormorph Sexiness

This wouldn’t be the first time a job listing has let slip that something was up with Dead Space 2. Linkdin.com has a job listing for a “Lead Combat & Controls Designer” for Visceral Games. The game is toward the end of it’s pre production stages and will be entering full production mode in the coming months. Visceral just released it’s Wii prequel Dead Space Extraction and aren’t leaving much down time between the 2 titles. There seems to be a big emphasis on the fighting game genre, and brutal moves. Sounds perfect for Dead Space 2 (as long as its for beating off creatures and such, not a fighting game) Here is to seeing some new Dead Space content by 2010. Isaac, we miss you.

DS: Extraction Goes Gold, Here’s A Trailer

The on rails shooter prequel to EA’s Dead Space has now gone gold. The gore fest shooter Dead Space: Extraction is being printed onto discs as you read this and will be available September 29th. In other related news, here is the latest video doc/trailer which shows how psychological aspects are being integrated into gameplay. For instance, your character is one of the few who can work through The Marker’s maddening effects, but that doesn’t mean he or she won’t be affected to some degree. You will see imaginary creatures, characters and may not even be in the room you think you’re in. Crazy stuff.

Dead Space Film Strategically Dismembering Itself Into Theaters

Dead Space will be seeing the silver screen thanks to Temple Hill and Electronic Arts. The film based on the survival horror game Dead Space will be Directed by Eagle Eye’s D.J Caruso. The studio is awaiting to choose a script which is predicted to be done by September. Seeing as how Dead Space took ques from multiple horror films such as Event Horizon and The Thing, it seems rather appropriate for the series to make the jump to theaters.

Dead Space Extraction To Get Comic Adaptation

It seems like Dead Space Extraction will also be getting a comic of its own. EA just announced for Comic Con that the 1st issue will be illustrated by Ben Templesmith and written by Antony Johnston, who also worked on the original Dead Space comic.

“There is so much more to the Dead Space universe than we could ever fit into one game and we’re excited to be working with Image Comics again to extend the story in Dead Space Extraction…Ben and Antony did such a tremendous job with the original comic, we can’t wait for fans to get their hands on this special issue.” Steve Papoutsis, executive producer of Dead Space Extraction says.

Visceral Games and Image Comics will bring this comic to stores this September for $3. A special Comic Con only version with extra content will be available for $2. If your attending Comic Con, you could even get your issue signed by Templesmith and Johnston on Thursday from 3-4 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 1-2 p.m.

Preview: Dead Space Extraction

I recently got the chance to sit down with Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis of Dead Space: Extraction in an NYC EA event. I was seeing the never before seen Chapter 7: “Life and Death.” The demo started with Dr. Karen Howell bracing the hellish nightmare on Aegis VII alone. But this does not mean this part is restricted to a solo play. The game is completely co-op. Connect a Wii Remote, press +, and you’re in.
