Resident Evil: Afterlife Delayed

00029406

Oh no! The sure to be cinematic masterpiece that is Resident Evil: Afterlife has been delayed from a warm August date to a chilly October 1st. The delay is due to Screen Gems giving Paul Anderson more time to perfect his 4th Resident Evil film. From the man who directed one of our favorite films Event Horizon, we just don’t understand how the Resident Evil films could be so lackluster. Its a shame really. Afterlife could always turn things around but with a story of Alice going to a prison to save Wentworth Miller (Prison Break…yeah) whos playing Chris Redfield we kind of already lost hope. Well one can dream can’t he?

Silent Hill 2 Film Is Official

Screenwriter Roger Avary and producer Samuel Hadida are going back to the haunted town of Silent Hill. Both have now signed on to pen the 2nd film based on the cult classic Silent Hill series. After lukewarm reviews of the first film and fan outrage at the deviation from source material, we can only hope Avary and Hadida will take some more time with this one. We believe it can be done, but it just needs the right dedication and research. The 2nd film will be moving from paper to reel after the release of Resident Evil: Afterlife. We hope to see more psychological fear and less Pyramid Head booty.

Resident Evil:Afterlife To Be Followed By ‘Begins’

computer6

The upcoming 4th Resident Evil film is to be the last before Sony pictures decides to reinvent the RE films. ‘Begins’ will focus on a military unit fighting a super computer and zombies…wait a god damn minute! Sounds like Sony Pictures is going to remake the original RE film and “get it right” this time. The first film wasn’t to bad but a revamped take on the story could prove better than the original. We will have to wait a pretty good amount of time for ‘Begins’ to even show its head. ‘Afterlife’ is still slated for a August 27th release.

Resident Evil: Afterlife Date Changed

Paul W.S. Anderson’s next Resident Evil film will not be releasing in September as previously stated, but a little earlier on August 27th. Apparently Anderson who is both the writer and director has been researching nearly every 3D film to hit the big screen to be ready for his first foray into the 3rd dimension of cinema. Our guess is that he needs to find some ways to incorporate 3D scenes without forcing them. Since Afterlife is supposed to be a reboot, we’ll just pretend Extinction never happen and pray this film stays at least a mile from the source material.

Resident Evil:Afterlife Is First Of New Planned Trilogy, Will Be In 3D

Paul W.S. Anderson tells Shock Till You Drop that Resident Evil: Afterlife will be his 4th RE film, but not a full sequel. Instead the series will be revamped and start as a whole new trilogy. Afterlife will have a bigger budget than the previous films and will see the return of old characters and new ones. The film will also be joining that whole 3D fad that decided to rear its head up from the 70’s.

“I always envisioned Resident Evil as a trilogy of films, “he said. “And we’ve been very lucky where it’s a trilogy where the audience has built and built. I wanted to kick off a brand new trilogy. I’m really excited we’re doing it [in 3-D] and we’re using the same camera system [James] Cameron used for Avatar. There are a lot of exciting things about this one. I don’t regard it as Resident Evil 4, I regard it as a re-tooling and rebirth of the entire franchise.”

Our guess is that Paul will take the Fast And Furious approach; by having a film that ignores previous events and rewrites the series history. This is good news for die hard Resident Evil fans. Maybe, just maybe we can have a RE film that doesn’t stray so far from the source material. We’re looking at you Extinction.
