Is Climax Working on Silent Hill For Xbox 360 and PS3?

206_silent_hill2_1b

In a recent job posting by Climax UK we see that the company is looking for a Narrative Designer to guide the very same team that made Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

The job description is looking for someone who has a passion for the horror genre and can successfully convey solid story telling. So love for the horror genre is a must and a massive emphasis on story telling and its Climax. While the project will be for “next gen” consoles its safe to assume they mean the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (Sorry Wii). The true next gen consoles are a long way away.

With the critically acclaimed success of Shattered Memories and Climax’s interest in returning to Silent Hill we can reckon that this title will be Silent Hill Next. We have contacted Climax for response.

Akira Yamaoka Will Return To Silent Hill If Asked

50871-PLAY!_Akira_Yamaoka

Akira Yamaoka may have left Konami after more than ten years to seek new experiences but he will return to the Silent Hill franchise if asked. Many assumed that because he left Konami he would never be able to work on another one of their games. Which is definitely not true.

“But if the team of Silent Hill asks me to work on the title,”I would like to provide brutal music for them.” he tells Kotaku.

Akira and his new partner Suda 51 are going to bring their talents together at Grasshopper manufacture to bring us that collaborative title with Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami but this may not be their only title. Akira also mentions how he wants to eventually do some work for a children’s game and not be solely labeled as a horror game guy. Kuraymi is also mentioned as not even being in development yet Suda 51. So horror gamers, we are left with good news and bad news. Akira will return to Silent Hill if need be, and Kuraymi may not be that mega horror title. Either way Akira, Suda and Shinji are amazing people in the video game industry and are bound to make a fantastic title horror or not.

Akira_Yamaoka_is_Green_(1711215413)

Akira Yamaoka, the man behind the wonderful sounds that have accompanied every single Silent Hill game has now moved to Grasshopper Manufacture. The game company behind No More Heros and Killer 7. Suda 51, the acclaimed developer behind these games has always been an admirer of Akira and now he will be working along side him for their next game which is to be a horror title. Probably Kurayami. The game will be in the hands of Suda, Akira and Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. Yeah…..Epic. What ever these guys create is bound to be the weirdest and most horrifying game ever released. We are itching to see it come to fruition.

Climax Interested In Going Back To Silent Hill, EU Release Date Announced.

1211409035

Silent Hill Shattered Memories has only been out for a short time and it has already established its self as a must have for Wii owners and Silent Hill fans alike. Climax did a great job with SM and they want to go at it again.

“We’ve always loved working on the series,” said Sam Barlow, lead designer on Shattered Memories. “Since Origins we’ve spent a lot of time with the series. For us we felt we’ve put our stamp on the series with Shattered Memories so we’d love the opportunity to do another one. So everybody go and buy it!” Sam Barlow tells ONM.

We would love for Climax to make a return trip to the eerie town of Silent Hill. Hopefully a larger game on a more powerful console. So you heard it from the guys themselves. Suggest Silent Hill Shattered Memories so Konami commissions Climax for a whole new Silent Hill game. With a series that has been struggling since Silent Hill 4 every sale counts.

Also worth noticing is the release date for the EU version of Shattered Memories. March 5 is when you good ol Europeans can get your hands on the game.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Review

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Review

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is the latest entry in the long running horror series Silent Hill. A franchise know for it’s disturbing imagery, cultic religious themes and it’s ability to wow the player with more thought required stories than M. Night Shyamalan could ever cook up. Shattered Memories takes almost all we know about Silent Hill and turns it upside down in an effort to appeal to newbies and to give the diehard fans something new. Does this re-imagining live up to the Silent Hill name? Find out after the jump. (more…)

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Site Launches, Here’s A Trailer

Konami has just launched the official website for Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. The page has a few character bios, info and screens. Nothing majorly new, but the new trailer is pretty sweet. The trailer is the “Attract Mode” video that would be found when idle in the main menu for a minute or 2. It certainly attracts us. We are given a pretty good gameplay montage and a new song by Akira Yamaoka and Silent Hill singer Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. Silent Hill won’t be the same without their combined talent. Well lets not digress. Watch the trailer and check out the site!

Confirmed: Akira Yamaoka Leaves Konami

50871-PLAY!_Akira_Yamaoka

It is a very sad day indeed for Silent Hill fans. The man who has stuck behind the Silent Hill series and with Konami for 16 long years has left the company. Akira is moving forward with some possible solo projects. But let’s not get all depressed and try to commit suicide but just end up in some town. Akira may have quit the company, but this does not mean he can not be commissioned to work on another Silent Hill game. It’s very common for outside composers to be hired in for a game. Even so, we still feel a bit saddened to hear that no one from the original Silent Hill team will over see newer projects. The Silent Hill series is now in complete hands of non of the original creators. A Silent Hill game won’t be complete without you Akira. Even if you have left the company, don’t leave the series.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Dated For Europe, Kinda

1249073484966 - Copy

Silent Hill:Shattered Memories’s release date seems to be as mysterious and eluding as the town it’s set in. We have seen an October, November and most recently a December release date. Konami is calming some of those woes with a target February release in Europe. Nothing announced for America just yet but we will be fast to post when we learn of it. It is pretty safe to bet the game will release in America around the same time as Europe, unless it follows Homecomings release strategy and come out months later. Delays arent so bad, it gives the devs some time to go back and polish every nook and cranny before sending out their final product. And as a Silent Hill title, it will be under the microscope by the cult followers of the series. So hooray for delays, for they make the game the best it can be.

Silent Hill 2 Film Is Official

silent_hill_2

Screenwriter Roger Avary and producer Samuel Hadida are going back to the haunted town of Silent Hill. Both have now signed on to pen the 2nd film based on the cult classic Silent Hill series. After lukewarm reviews of the first film and fan outrage at the deviation from source material, we can only hope Avary and Hadida will take some more time with this one. We believe it can be done, but it just needs the right dedication and research. The 2nd film will be moving from paper to reel after the release of Resident Evil: Afterlife. We hope to see more psychological fear and less Pyramid Head booty.
