<p>Dead Rising 2: Case Zero has been delayed. It is indeed a sad thing. Currently the delay has been confirmed for just the Japanese release. Apparently the trial version of the game contained elements that were not appropriate for a trial. Possibly the trial had too much content and fun for a free run. The prequel to Dead Rising 2 was supposed to release tomorrow. Hopefully the issue doesn&#8217;t affect the western release of the game. Stay tuned for more info regarding the delay.</p>
<p><strong>Update:</strong> Case Zero will still be arriving tomorrow in the US and Europe.</p>

<p>We had a chance to speak to the one of a kind developer SWERY; the man behind on of the strangest, most awkward and interesting games of the decade. Deadly Premonition surprised us with its absurdity and creative writing. All for the low price of $20, we stepped into Greenvale, a David Lynch type town filled with murder, mystery and coffee. <p>HD: Most developers dream of making the #1 title on the U.S. sales chart. And you did it with a horror game that isn&#8217;t called Resident Evil and without a ginormous advertising budget or loads of press coverage! That is no small achievement. How did you receive the news?</p>
<blockquote><p>SWERY: First of all, I&#8217;d like to say something to everyone who purchased the game, the media who picked up on it, and the people involved in producing and distributing the game.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #ff0000;">Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you all.</span></h2>
<p>We received a few rather harsh reviews, but this is a project that we spent a lot of time on, so this strengthened my conviction. Deadly Premonition is a title I am very proud of, even the parts that were panned in the reviews.</p>
<p>Hearing that the game hit #1 was one of the most exciting, emotional, and unforgettable experiences of my life.</p></blockquote>
<p>HD: Does the final product of Deadly Premonition resemble what was first planned? Were there many revisions or changes along it&#8217;s development?</p>
<blockquote><p>SWERY: Many elements are exactly the same as I&#8217;d imagined, but there are many others that diverge greatly from that.</p>
<p>I originally envisioned a cynical, urban title with the main character being a forensic investigator for the FBI, but we morphed that into a meandering story set in a small country town.</p>
<p>However, the foundation of the game hasn&#8217;t changed a bit, especially the idea that we wanted to create a world in which every character had his or her own life. That idea never changed.</p>
<p>In other games, people just die too much.</p>
<p>Also, I wanted to bring to this title the feeling that in the real world, it&#8217;s the people close to the recently passed who taste the bitterness of death, and that&#8217;s something that I can say other games don&#8217;t have.</p>
<p>To that end, I can say that as a title that directly grapples with death and separation, it turned out just like I&#8217;d imagined. I&#8217;d also like to know how you felt as you drove around Greenvale in the police car. I&#8217;d like to hope it was what I had intended you to feel.</p></blockquote>
<p>HD: Were you aware that Deadly Premonition would be sold as a budget title, and did that upset you at all?</p>
<blockquote><p>SWERY: Yes, I was made aware of that when the pricing was announced.</p>
<p>And I thought to myself, &#8220;How excellent!&#8221; Because in this way, I thought more people would have a chance to experience the game, and that at that price it would be much easier for people to get their hands on it. Don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s a marvelous thing?</p>
<p>You can even go to see a movie for around $10 nowadays, so I think it should be easier to access games.</p></blockquote>
<p>HD: After seeing the release and success of Deadly Premonition, are there further plans to work with the Deadly Premonition IP?</p>
<blockquote><p>SWERY: If the players demand it, and we&#8217;re able to find backing for it, I would pour my heart and soul into a sequel. I&#8217;m not sure whether it would be a sequel or a prequel though. That&#8217;s something I&#8217;d have to think on it if comes up.</p></blockquote>
<p>HD: If yes to the previous, will our protagonist be able to walk and fire his weapon (haha)?</p>
<blockquote><p>SWERY: It is possible for us to set the player controls so that you can walk and fire at the same time.</p>
<p>However, then it becomes just another shooting game, and I think it would cease to be a real horror game.</p>
<p>I would consider making some improvements, but I can&#8217;t promise they will be anything ordinary. :D</p></blockquote>
<p>HD: Deadly Premonition did pretty well for a budget title, and that was thanks to word of mouth. Some reviewers simply did not get it. What would you like to say to those reviewers?</p>
<blockquote><p>SWERY: The critical voices, and severe impressions really hurt, but I can understand where they are coming from. Just as every person has different individual qualities, I don&#8217;t think there should be any need for all games to fit into a certain mold. I&#8217;d like to ask those people if they would change their mood every once in a while, and stick with a game like Deadly Premonition all the way though.</p>
<p>It could be when they&#8217;ve got some free time and free spirits. After all, every game is born to be played all they to the end.</p></blockquote>
<p>HD: Just what is Forrest Kaysen?!</p>
<blockquote><p>SWERY: To explain it in simple terms I ask you, what is his identity?</p>
<p>I think of him as a spirit of desire. He won&#8217;t play fair if it means fulfilling a desire, and he will lie without a care.</p>
<p>Within that are good and bad, but the greatest desires tend to be bad things.</p>
<p>Bad things are what you hope to the Red Tree for, and so you could say he is a herald of the Red Tree.</p>
<p>You know, there could be other heralds of the Red Tree. After all there are still a lot of bad things going on in the world.</p>

<p>A recent interview with Square Enix&#8217;s Yoshinori Kitase, producer of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEdKSeLlBgM"><em>The 3rd Birthday</em></a>, might leave fans of the <em>Parasite Eve</em> franchise riled up. It seems that it&#8217;s very likely that we will see <em>Parasite Eve</em> 1 &amp; 2 both available on PSN due to huge demand by fans. After hearing from Kitase, as well as Tetsuya Nomura, artist for <em>The 3rd Birthday</em>, it&#8217;s only a matter of time till we get a date. With <em>Parasite Eve</em> being such a horror classic, there is no reason why they won&#8217;t do it!<br />
If that wasn&#8217;t enough to get your panties loose, then perhaps a next-gen <em>Parasite Eve</em> game will. If PSP release <em>The 3rd Birthday</em> is a success, then there is a chance that Kitase will consider bringing the Parasite Eve franchise to next-gen consoles.</p>

<p>The sure to be the most epic of horror title will be unveiled at this years Tokyo Game Show. Produced by Resident Evil creator, Shinji Mikami, directed by No More Heroes creator Suda 51, and scored by Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka. What ever this title may be, it&#8217;s sure to amazing. Three excellent Japanese video game professionals on one project. Suda 51&#8242;s absurd style, Mikami&#8217;s classic taste in horror, and Akira&#8217;s fantastic horror compositions will make this the wet dream of any horror game fan. We heard about Suda51&#8242;s horror title <a href="http://helldescent.com/2009/08/18/suda-51-moving-to-horror-with-kurayami/">Kurayami</a>, can this be it? All we were given was concept art for that title. It could be drastically different by now. All we know is that the title will appear on Xbox 360 and PS3.</p>
<p>Looks like we will have to wait till TGS in September for info on this title. Until then, let&#8217;s try to contain our excite&#8230;.AHHHHHHH!</p>

<p>It&#8217;s been a while since we mentioned the Bring Back Outbreak campaign. A lot of progress has been made since then. We were contacted by Graeme Arkell (aka Zombie_Professor from the  Capcom forum) last night with an update on the campaign. Apparently our story greatly helped the cause. It&#8217;s great to see that we helped something go a bit farther. We want to help out as much as we can.</p>
<p>The campaign has been running strong, even the voice of Wesker is supporting! The community on Capcom&#8217;s forum has posted over 13,459 times, with and amazing 1,186,351 views. This cause is getting some big attention. We personally would LOVE to see Outbreak come back in some form. Sony could have them re-released as an HD collection, Capcom can ported them to the XBLA or PSN even. While a proper sequel is what would be preferred by most of the fans, they just really want to play the games again with online functionality in HD.</p>
<p>A direct contender to Left 4 Dead by the original zombie game creators, Capcom would be amazing. Left 4 Dead may have it&#8217;s own sense of tense gameplay when played on harder difficulties, but it doesn&#8217;t have that classic survival horror feel. No puzzles, no collecting, no fear. After the less than satisfying Resident Evil 5, the fans deserve a true multiplayer horror game in the vein of classic Resident Evil . The campaign now has its how site with wallpapers, fan art, and videos. Take a look and join the cause!</p>

We can certainly feel the adrenaline pumping action that will be in Dead Space 2. But do not fret readers, executive producer Steve Papoutsis has time and time again <a href="http://helldescent.com/2010/05/13/dead-space-2-interview/">ensured us</a> that the traditional survival horror feel will remain. <p>Valve has announced via Gametrailers TV that &#8216;The Sacrifice&#8217; DLC will be coming to <em>Left 4 Dead</em> and <em>Left 4 Dead 2</em>. The episode will detail the events before <em>The Passing</em> and allow for gamers to replay as the original team in either games. The DLC also brings the fan favorite No Mercy campaign to<em> Left 4 Dead 2</em>. Double whammy eh Valve? We like!<em> Left 4 Dead 1 </em>is not needed to play this DLC. You can choose what game you want the DLC for. If I can play as Zoey in<em> Left 4 Dead 2</em> with some melee weapons, I think the choice is obvious.</p>
<p><em>The Sacrifice</em> will show the story how Bill met his death in <em>The Passing</em>. Gamers are not limited to who get to do &#8216;The Sacrifice&#8217;. The content will be coming to PC, MAC (<em>Left 4 Dead</em> going Mac!), and Xbox 360.</p>
