Exclamation Silent Hill Easter Eggs

Ok people, first of all I didn't find directly this information it was by this guys over here, this ones are the ones who found the Easter Eggs:

Gerardo (Lord_Areg) García

Antrax1966 (qepd)

Alvaro Plaza (Bilbao)

Aldebaran Franco

Dr. Scully

Galish_yadumb

Nicolas Dorado

RisorialFoX

Roki

Spuny

The_Skullpitter
Joako

Kokoro

Nur_ein_tier (Hey wait a second...is this our Nur_ein_tier?)

SBK

TiburZio

Zurc (Portugal)

Second, I will not take any credits for this, except the translation from Spanish to English, since I found it in a fan site, which is this one:

And third I e-mail the owner of the page (Gerardo García) and he said it's alright to post this.
(I'm really sorry for the bad spelling)

So I found lot's of stuff...and this is gonna be a bit hard but the hell.

1.- In the Cafe 5 to 2 it has the same name of the restaurant cafe where the characters Mikey & Mallory Knox made their first scene in the ultraviolent film Natural Born Killers (Oliver Stone, 1994)

2.- All around Silent Hill you could find newspapers machines. If you look closely, the first page says "Bill Skins Fifth".Something in particular? This is the first page in one of the newspapers in the film (The Silence of the Lambs one of my favorites, by the way) when Clarice arrives at the office of Jack Crawford and she was checking some newspapers waiting for his arrive. The Silent Hill Inquisitor it's a reference to the newspaper: Inquisitor. Duh.

Another thing is, that Clarice Starling is from West Virginia, and actually the whole movie it's involved in the town itself, wich means that, since Silent Hill is in West Virginia too, then they recibe the newspaper from the actuall hapening.

3.- When you come back on Bachman rode, turn around to Finney in order to take the way when Harry was attacked by the first time, in the beginning of the game. There is a little poster about the novel (or may be the movie) “Pet Sematary”,by Stephen King.

The name of Stephen King it's not on the list of authors used to name the streets of Silent Hill, but there are other references to his novels in the game. The last name Bachman(Bachman rode) it's possibly the one that King use as a pseudonym in some of his novels (Richard Bachman, Thinner).

4.- In some rooms we can see posters of movies of the 50's like "A woman came down from the planet Vulcano" (posibly from Star Trek, since Dr. Spock it's from planet Vulcano).

5.- Near Midwich, in the North and taking the direction of Matheson St., you can see the only local shop in Silent Hill with a number : 6843. Possibly a reference of Colin Baker, the incarnation number 6 of Doctor Who , The TV series of Science Fiction, 1984 from 1986.

6.-The shop Cut-Rite it's a reference of the movie: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. (Tobe Hooper, 1986) it's the place where you find the chainsaw, LOL.

7.- After you get out of Balkan church, walk to the next street, in front of the church. There is a big metal door were you can find the words: REDRUM. Backwards: MURDER. This word it's from the novel "The Shining" (S. King, 1977). Or may be the movie with the same name (Stanley Kubrik, 1980).

8.-In one of the walls, near the gasoline machines, in the gas station, there is a message that says:

"That's what life can be, doing drugs.

But it doesn't have to be that way.

Help is available, day or night".

This is from Jacob's Ladder. A lot of symbolism in the movie it's from the bible and some literal elements. Possibly this is saying that we are in Hell. Imagine Harry like Jacob.

9.- Of course, one of the most logic ones it's a reference from: The Wizard of Oz (Victor Fleming 1939) on the keys for the eclipse, that you need to find in the first part of the game. Each key has the name and the image of 3 characters from the movie: The Lion, the Scarecrow and the Woodcutter. Wee need to remember that the Tin Man was a Woodcutter too.

10.- In the cinema there are 3 movies: “Shoot”, “Crusher Dan” and “Ezekiel”. Crusher Dan is the father of a fictional character in a novel called: Crusher Joe, by Takachiho Haruka, then there was an adaptation to anime.

The image of the poster Crusher Dan is the same one of the movie Die Hard 2 (Renny Harlin, 1990). Bruce Willis is the one in the poster. The one that says SHOOT, compared to the poster of the movie: Raiders of the Lost Ark (Steven Spielberg, 1981), it's almost the same, in here we can see Indiana Jones.

11.- When you arrive to the antique shop, you can see the Mushnick Florist.

12.- In front of Mushnick Florist you will see a note saying with bad spelling: Admire the fantasy of our new plant Audrey Junior.

Audrey Jr. it's the name of the monster-plant in the movie: The Little Shop Of Horrors (Roger Corman, 1960 y Frank Oz, 1986). Gravis Mushnick is the owner of the Florist.

13.- Walking to the North, you will see the posters of the movie: Carrie. The Poster it's from the movie(Brian de Palma, 1976)not from the book of Stephen King (1973) but the movie it's based on the novel.

(Note by me: Carrie White is the protagonist in the film and it's a girl who has psychokinetic powers, similar to Alessa's ones. Also, she had a crazy mother and at the end of the movie, she killed her mother, as Alessa killed Dahlia(for more info just ask me or watch the movie).

14.- The Kazanian Jewerly, maybe it's named because of the character with the same name in the film: Inferno, by Sacha Pitoeff (1980) Directed by Dario Argento.

15.-The Motel Norman it's a cleaver reference to "Psycho" (Norman Bates, Bates Motel).

16.- One of the doors in Nowhere it has the letters "Help me" written on it, like a reference to the movie The Exorcist (William Friedkin, 1973), when little Regan has a demography with the same words. The type of letter it's also similar:

17.- The theater: Metropol, its also based on the theater with the same name that appears in the Italian movie: (Lamberto Bava, 1985;produced by Dario Argento). This is an excellent movie. It's a shame that Argento almost didn't made movies.

18.- In the same Metropol theater, you can see in the walls the face of a demon with green saliva. This demon it's from the same movie in the previous number.

So there are a lot more but I need to make another post in order to put the images.

19.- Possibly this image it's a reference from the final scene of the movie: Psycho (Alfred Hitchcock, 1960) were you can see the image of Norman Bates and the skull of his mother.

20.- Again, this is another reference from Psycho, it's the stairs room in the house of Dahlia Gillespie. It looks a lot like the stairs where detective Arbogast it's murdered by the "mother" of Norman Bates.

21.- The picture of Alessa in the room of the Alchemilla Hospital seems to be from the movie: The Legend Of Hell House (John Hough, 1973). I think it's true, since the movie was written by Richard Matheson (his last name it's one of the streets in Silent Hill), based on his own novel Hell House, 1971.

22.-Possibly Lisa Garland's outfit was taken from the movie: The Exorcist III?

23.- From the film: 12 Monkeys (Terry Gilliam, 1995) there is a reference in the shop FAA, since in the movie, it's the Central Quarters of the 12 Monkeys.

24.- Possibly the fact of the parasites that made people want to kill without any type of intelligence (what happens to the Nurses, doctors and Cybil) could be from the movie called: Night of the Creeps (Fred Dekker, 1986).

25.- About Leonard Rhine, I haven't found something. Looks like a name just for the game. Anyway, the name and the phrase, looks a bit like from the movie: Phantoms. (Dean Koontz's Phantoms; Joe Chappelle, 1998)

26.-Black Cat and Gunsmith said in his guide of Silent Hill,in the bloopers cutscene, Cheryl made a pose similar to the one Kelly MacDonald made in a poster form the movie: Trainspotting (Danny Boyle, 1996).

Cool stuff! I remember seeing that pic of Florence Tanner from The Legend of Hell House (1973) and thinking that she looked just like Alessa. Here are a couple more I found while browsing around the internet:

27. The early model of Lisa Garland wore a light pink nurse's uniform.

27a. ...And coincidentally, the above pic of Lisa looks almost exactly like Cameron Diaz in the pic below from The Mask:

28. In the European version, there's a short article found in the Nowhere stage about the infamous fire and the subsequent investigations that took place. It reads:

"Fire broke out in town
6 homes destroyed.

Charred body of Alessa Gillespie (7) found in aftermath.

Cause of fire currently under investigation.

Investigations show source as basement of Gillespie home.
Blaze now believed to be caused by malfunction of antiquated boiler."

29. In the UFO ending, the image in which Harry is zapped by the aliens is based on one of the bubble-gum cards (#19 - "Burning Flesh") released by Topps in 1962, painted by the famous pulp-comic artist, Norm Saunders. The card series appears to have been based on the 1960 version of the movie, Mars Attacks!.

30. The Gillespie house is most likely modeled after a distant house in the background of the Andrew Wyeth painting, "Christina's World."

I came across these cool little tidbits in the sections titled "Odkrycia" and "Powiazania" on this Polish Silent Hill site.

Ok, this is for the commercials in SH.

1.- Out in the Café 5 to 2 there is a van. In the mirror, you can see a sticker similar to the ones from Coca-Cola. It's curious seeing a van with the sticker of Coca- Cola , But it also could be a van used by Coca-Cola Company.

2.- If there is a reference to Coca-Cola, there is also one for his direct competence: in one of the chairs you could see the Pepsi sing pasted in a stretched way. You can almost read Pepsicola.

3.- There is a store called "8"and its a graphic parody of the American Seven-Eleven, just with a change in the colors.

4.- Near the same place, you can see a Bar with the words: Jim Beam, it's a company of Whiskey from Kentucky. The Bar has the name 13 or 73.

5.- In one of the walls you can see a poster that says: "The Big Beat".The thing is that, it's posted backwards. If you put a mirror in the poster of "The Big Beat" there is a word that says "Mirror" and it's the logo of a British magazine, 1903, Daily Mirror.

6.- The products from AIWA are also inside the town of Silent Hill.

7.- The restaurant of Queen Burger it's the opposite of Burger King.Obviously.

We also need to know that there is a place called Queen Burger and Pizza in Willinston, North Dakota

8.- Inside the mall (after you leave Green Lion)you could see two references of the shop Virgin Megastores, but in the game it's Vestal Gigastore. The producers of the game were playing a bit with the definitions and here I will say why: In Roma, there was an special kind of priestess blessed by the goddess Vesta, their name were Vestal. The vestals should be virgins; father and mother of a good social position, and they must have been quite beautiful. Their fundamental job was to take care of the holy fire. Thanks to The_Skullpitter for giving me the new.

Image of a Roman Vestal Virgin:

9.- The bag of candies "Jelly Beans" it's from the logo Jelly Belly.

10.- Inside "Indian Runner" were Harry finds drugs in a security box, you can see a lot of boxes with the logo: "Fedy-X Expresso". Obliviously from FedEx Express.

11.- The restaurant Mec Burguer....well, I don't need to say anything, the place even looks like McDonalds.

12.-There is another place with the words "Servicio Completo de Bodas", (It should be "...Para Bodas") ("Complete service for Weddings") and the name of the shop makes a reference to the magazine specialized on weddings called: Virginia Bride.

13.- Inside Annie's Bar you can find some commercials about the beer Minor that has a logo similar to Miller.

14.- As SugrNspyce4 already pointed out, the UFO ending design was based on one of the bubble-gum cards (#19 - "Burning Flesh") released by Topps in 1962, based on the movie: Mars Attacks.

15.- From the Same collection of 55 cards, there is one named: Crushed to Death, number 20, the one they used on the design of the alien spaceships.

16.- In the intersection of Matheson and Bachman, there is a place with the name: Poston Market, reference to the restaurants: Boston Market.

17.- In the Street Willson, near the Hot Dogs shop and the fish market Salmon, you can find a local of Flowers On Lexington.

Flowers On Lexington is a boutique in 858 Lexington Ave, on New York and it makes flowers ornaments. With his web page, it sends products all around the world. Thanks to Galish_yadumb for finding it.

18.- If you manage to unlock the Hyper blaster, you can see that looks exactly like the Official Hyper blaster Lightgun by Konami.

19.- Inside the Café 5 to 2, there is a pinball Machine: Medieval Madness. Originally made by the company: Williams Manufacturing Company.

20.- In the Police Station, over the desk, you can see a LIFO magazine, which is a parody of the magazine: LIFE.

21.- Inside the store 8, you can see in the exhibition an issue of the magazine: Rotary.

Please, just don't ask how I discovered this one. :p I don't know if anyone spotted this one. You can only see it in first person view mode. It's on the table in the tower bridge control room.
