Cool stuff! I remember seeing that pic of Florence Tanner from The Legend of Hell House (1973) and thinking that she looked just like Alessa. Here are a couple more I found while browsing around the internet:
27. The early model of Lisa Garland wore a light pink nurse's uniform. ![]() 27a. ...And coincidentally, the above pic of Lisa looks almost exactly like Cameron Diaz in the pic below from The Mask: ![]() 28. In the European version, there's a short article found in the Nowhere stage about the infamous fire and the subsequent investigations that took place. It reads: "Fire broke out in town 6 homes destroyed. Charred body of Alessa Gillespie (7) found in aftermath. Cause of fire currently under investigation. Investigations show source as basement of Gillespie home. Blaze now believed to be caused by malfunction of antiquated boiler." 29. In the UFO ending, the image in which Harry is zapped by the aliens is based on one of the bubble-gum cards (#19 - "Burning Flesh") released by Topps in 1962, painted by the famous pulp-comic artist, Norm Saunders. The card series appears to have been based on the 1960 version of the movie, Mars Attacks!. ![]() 30. The Gillespie house is most likely modeled after a distant house in the background of the Andrew Wyeth painting, "Christina's World." ![]() I came across these cool little tidbits in the sections titled "Odkrycia" and "Powiazania" on this Polish Silent Hill site. ![]()

Ok, this is for the commercials in SH.
1.- Out in the Café 5 to 2 there is a van. In the mirror, you can see a sticker similar to the ones from Coca-Cola. It's curious seeing a van with the sticker of Coca- Cola , But it also could be a van used by Coca-Cola Company. ![]() ![]() 2.- If there is a reference to Coca-Cola, there is also one for his direct competence: in one of the chairs you could see the Pepsi sing pasted in a stretched way. You can almost read Pepsicola. ![]() ![]() 3.- There is a store called "8"and its a graphic parody of the American Seven-Eleven, just with a change in the colors. ![]() 4.- Near the same place, you can see a Bar with the words: Jim Beam, it's a company of Whiskey from Kentucky. The Bar has the name 13 or 73. ![]() ![]() 5.- In one of the walls you can see a poster that says: "The Big Beat".The thing is that, it's posted backwards. If you put a mirror in the poster of "The Big Beat" there is a word that says "Mirror" and it's the logo of a British magazine, 1903, Daily Mirror. ![]() ![]() 6.- The products from AIWA are also inside the town of Silent Hill. ![]() 7.- The restaurant of Queen Burger it's the opposite of Burger King.Obviously. ![]() We also need to know that there is a place called Queen Burger and Pizza in Willinston, North Dakota 8.- Inside the mall (after you leave Green Lion)you could see two references of the shop Virgin Megastores, but in the game it's Vestal Gigastore. The producers of the game were playing a bit with the definitions and here I will say why: In Roma, there was an special kind of priestess blessed by the goddess Vesta, their name were Vestal. The vestals should be virgins; father and mother of a good social position, and they must have been quite beautiful. Their fundamental job was to take care of the holy fire. Thanks to The_Skullpitter for giving me the new. ![]() Image of a Roman Vestal Virgin: ![]() 9.- The bag of candies "Jelly Beans" it's from the logo Jelly Belly. ![]() 10.- Inside "Indian Runner" were Harry finds drugs in a security box, you can see a lot of boxes with the logo: "Fedy-X Expresso". Obliviously from FedEx Express. ![]() 11.- The restaurant Mec Burguer....well, I don't need to say anything, the place even looks like McDonalds. ![]() 12.-There is another place with the words "Servicio Completo de Bodas", (It should be "...Para Bodas") ("Complete service for Weddings") and the name of the shop makes a reference to the magazine specialized on weddings called: Virginia Bride. ![]() ![]() 13.- Inside Annie's Bar you can find some commercials about the beer Minor that has a logo similar to Miller. ![]() 14.- As SugrNspyce4 already pointed out, the UFO ending design was based on one of the bubble-gum cards (#19 - "Burning Flesh") released by Topps in 1962, based on the movie: Mars Attacks. ![]() 15.- From the Same collection of 55 cards, there is one named: Crushed to Death, number 20, the one they used on the design of the alien spaceships. ![]() 16.- In the intersection of Matheson and Bachman, there is a place with the name: Poston Market, reference to the restaurants: Boston Market. ![]() ![]() 17.- In the Street Willson, near the Hot Dogs shop and the fish market Salmon, you can find a local of Flowers On Lexington. Flowers On Lexington is a boutique in 858 Lexington Ave, on New York and it makes flowers ornaments. With his web page, it sends products all around the world. Thanks to Galish_yadumb for finding it. 18.- If you manage to unlock the Hyper blaster, you can see that looks exactly like the Official Hyper blaster Lightgun by Konami. ![]() ![]() 19.- Inside the Café 5 to 2, there is a pinball Machine: Medieval Madness. Originally made by the company: Williams Manufacturing Company. ![]() ![]() 20.- In the Police Station, over the desk, you can see a LIFO magazine, which is a parody of the magazine: LIFE. ![]() 21.- Inside the store 8, you can see in the exhibition an issue of the magazine: Rotary. ![]() Last edited by Samael; 05-01-2009 at 09:31 PM.. |
